How Close Are We to the AI Apocalypse?

I was playing around with an AI feature that generates storyboard images based on a script. The images were great...but not necessarily perfect. Based on this project, the Singularity will not happen this week.

Starting off slowly, this is a decent image of Our Handsome Hero on a slightly rundown porch. Fingers all accounted for; the correct amount of limbs. I guess I'd just query what that chain in the foreground is doing.

Neon sign saying VACEONTY is easily fixed. The shocking lack of privacy of a transparent motel door is more concerning. Those stains on the concrete...that's not blood, right?

Starting on the right and moving left - it's a soothing, bucolic image of the American Midwest. The pouch attached to Our Handsome Hero's shirt is a little weird. But it's when we get to the truck that things go wrong. That's an underside windscreen he has there. And sure, the steering wheel might be out of shot and he's taken out the passenger seat for more room. But there's no way that door is going to fit that gap.

I'm not seeing much wrong with this manly image of a man in sturdy boots looking at a bridge that might be a little fancy to be spanning that non-gap.

Ignoring the possibility that Our Handsome Hero feels trapped behind that fence, the only issue I see is the now-it's-here-now-it's-not fence in the foreground.

This one could be the prize winner. Is it an oversized camera? Or is it a disguised bazooka? You'll have to wait for the movie.

Second place goes to this outtake from the Fantastic 4. The AI apparently doesn't know how cameras work.

This is my personal favorite. The light is right, the gloves are going on, the flask is battered and well-used. A perfect image of ...Our Handsome Hero...just a workin' man on a farm. But that truck's tailgate is a miracle.

Love the sense of mystery in this one. A store selling bathtub hooch, or bottles of pee, and Our Handsome Hero is fascinated by a running faucet attached to a bottle of moss.

A nicely structured motel room - presumably with a sheet hung up over the transparent door. The lamp is a nice touch, as is the scene outside the window. But Our Handsome Hero's tiny right leg and foot is like something out of Deadpool.

This. This is the best one. Delight in the cool background and our stoic hero. But explode with joy over the misplaced and over-large lock but mostly the built-in fuel pump. Genius.

This is surprisingly good. My experience of AI coffee shops is that everyone gets two cups - one being held and one on the table. So this beats that error. And there's the battered flask again - good continuity. So just the teeny-tiny table. So close, AI.

Another lovely image for the Corn Belt Tourist Board. A lovely image, right down to the cracks on the road. And the double steering wheels? Clearly Our Handsome Hero is a driving instructor.

So, as said, it's close but it's not there. Yet. We have maybe until Xmas before the AI perfects itself. Hopefully our ChatGPT overlords will let me finish my movie.
